I will begin by saying that obsession is the consequence of an emotional trigger provided by what we call as happy hormones.
We know about those hormones that they are called:
• Dopamine
• Serotonin
• Oxytocin
• Endorphine
And they make us to feel powerful emotional states like excitement, fulfillment and a lot of mental pleasure.
All these hormones, for example, can create in a dependent on morphine or other drugs to feel pleasure and to create different obsessions for this specific gross and unhealthy material for a nose.
Or…
They can be used to provide a direction to the brain towards practical habits and solutions to evolve in a constant way.
An obsession is just a habit that has become a part of your life.
So, that means you can overcome the obsession/habit and you can create some better ones.
Some of you can use different obsessions in your life to upgrade it and start to become a better version of yourself.
But because of it… We need to talk more about those facts.
The question is… How can you create great “obsessions”?
And how do those hormones work?
What are happy hormones and how they can help you?
First of all, you need to understand that those brain liquids provide different states of mind.
These states of mind will make you feel and see the world around you in different and interesting forms.
For example, after you finish your body training, a significant dose of serotonin will be secreted in your body, which will create a different perception of yourself.
You’ll start to see yourself as a more beautiful, powerful and better human.
Your self-confidence will increase thanks to the serotonin that is secreted after an intense workout.
The same thing happens to all the others.
Dopamine can be secreted by accomplishing a task, after you’ve eaten or meditated.
And it will enable motivation, learning and mental satisfaction.
Oxytocin can be secreted by physical touch, socializing, exercise or a massage.
And it plays the role of affection making you feel more loved and accepted by others.
Endorphin fights anxiety and depression and is activated by laughing, exercising or meditating.
As you can see… Multiple hormones can be secreted by the same action.
That’s why running for achieving your goals could be so interesting and can give you a powerful feeling of pleasure and satisfaction.
That’s the pleasure of the long-term process.
How drugs and pornography can destroy you?
Well… I don’t think that you expected this question.
Until now you’ve understood how those hormones are created.
Usually, when you’re struggling with a specific goal, you will not feel the pleasure immediately, but just after some period of time when the results will start to appear.
That’s why is so hard to create healthy habits at the beginning.
On the other hand, if you give up and start to go under the rules of drugs or pornography you will start to feel instant pleasure.
The difference between long-term and instant pleasure is the outcome.
Instant pleasure = Hard life
Long-term pleasure = Easy life
This is about discipline and your desires for your future self.
One technique that I use to motivate myself every time when I feel that things are too difficult for me is to think about my young self like he is next to me and he sees everything I do.
Then, I question myself:
Is he proud of what he sees about his future self?
Then I begin to work harder, to become more efficient while I think about my inner child as my own kid I have to care for.
When I started to think about my actions in this way, my way of thinking has changed completely.
You can use it too if you find it useful.
Don’t hesitate to DM me on social accounts to tell me about how it works for you.
How can you create great obsessions?
Well, I’ve lied to you.
The happy hormones will help you just after a specific period of time when you will already start to see some progress.
But until that moment you will need something more.
A purpose.
You will need to start and figure out your goals, desires and those things for what you want to fight and struggle to achieve while you go through hard work.
I’ve talked about how can you create your goal in the previous blog post, you can find it here: “How to start your journey in self-improvement?”
So, when you already know what your purpose is, you can start creating your obsessions through new habits that are meant to help your progress in the direction you set for yourself.
Those habits could be:
• Reading more
• Training harder
• Meditate longer
Also, programming more stuff or starting to write better.
You choose your habits, but you have to choose them wisely.
Then, you have to discipline yourself until the moment you will start to automate the process on its own.
How do you do that? Finding pleasure, giving yourself the time you need to feed your curiosity in your domain.
In the process, you will start learning more than just a specific skill that will help you to earn money.
You’ll find the fulfillment of having your star, your own path in your life.
If someone would ask me what I think is happiness, I would give him this answer:
Feeling fulfillment on a daily basis of working on your own stuff while nurturing the curiosity of knowledge.
Philosophical and sophisticated, I know.
What can you do more?
You start to optimize.
Trial and error. Bugs and problems in programming your own life will appear along the way.
You will never be perfect and that’s the idea of life. No one will.
But what can you do is finding new ways of optimizing your process and a way of thinking to create solutions to the problems that can appear, even if they are in your or other’s life.
Every time you will need to understand what makes you to stay in the same place as yesterday.
That’s the point where a lot of people give up.
You will need to analyze yourself and your own actions if you want to make changes.
It’s alright if you can’t do this now, but in the process, you will learn it.
Practice kills a lot of successful people.
But patience saves the great ones.
If you don’t give up, there will always be a chance to win.
But if do it, your chance will be equal to zero.
What do you choose, brother/sister?
Hehe, my second blog post.
I really start to be happy about that.
Oh, that dopamine.
